Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ChoreTask collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you create an account, use ChoreTask’s website and services, post or complete tasks, communicate with other users, make or receive payments, or contact ChoreTask.
1. Overview
ChoreTask is a purpose-driven platform that connects people who need help with people who can provide local or remote help. Users create one account that may be used both to post tasks and offer help. ChoreTask is operated from Ohio.
This Privacy Policy applies to the ChoreTask website and platform services, including accounts, profiles, tasks, offers, bookings, payments, messages, reviews, reporting, announcements, notifications, and support. By using ChoreTask, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy and to our Terms of Use.
2. Information we collect
We collect information you provide, information generated when you use the platform, and information processed through service providers that help us operate ChoreTask.
Account and profile information
When you create or update an account, we may collect and store information such as your email address, authentication and account identifiers, display name, profile photo, city, state, and ZIP code, biography, skills or preferences about where you can help, profile links you supply, and profile or account settings. If you sign in with Google, we may receive information associated with that sign-in from Google.
Some profile information may appear on your public profile, such as your profile photo, display name, city and state, biography, skills, ratings, review history, active posted tasks, and public links you choose to add. Not all account information is private.
Task, offer, booking, and transaction information
When you post or interact with tasks, we may collect and store information such as task titles, descriptions, categories, local or remote task type, task photos, task locations and addresses, task prices, preferred timing, offers, proposed terms, locked agreements, booking records and status, completion information, cancellations, problem reports, refunds, payment attempts, payment and transfer status, and related system-generated activity.
Messages and user-generated content
We may collect and store private messages within offer and booking conversations, reviews and ratings, support requests, task and conversation reports, administrative messages, announcement-read records, and other user-generated profile, task, or review content. Private conversations are not publicly visible.
Location and address information
We may collect city, state, and ZIP code information associated with your profile or tasks, as well as street addresses for local tasks when provided. Street addresses are not shown publicly. Private contact information is not displayed publicly. A task address is shared with the selected helper after the booking becomes active.
Payment and payout information
ChoreTask uses Stripe to process task payments and helper payouts. When a poster books a helper, the poster is charged the agreed task price plus a ChoreTask service fee equal to 17% of the agreed task price, subject to a minimum service fee of $2.50. Helpers may provide identity, tax, banking, and payout information directly to Stripe. ChoreTask does not store helpers’ full bank-account details. ChoreTask may store Stripe identifiers, account-readiness status, payment status, refund status, transfer status, and other transaction metadata needed to operate payments.
Support, reports, and safety information
When you contact support or submit a report, we may collect the topic, subject, and message, along with an account email snapshot, display-name snapshot, limited account or technical context useful for investigation, delivery status, provider message identifiers, and timestamps. Support requests are stored before email delivery is attempted. We may also collect information needed to investigate inappropriate tasks, reported conversations, booked-job problems, and other safety or policy concerns.
Technical and usage information
We and our providers may collect technical and usage information such as browser and device information, approximate location derived from technical information where available, IP address where processed by service providers, page visits, referral source, task-view events, feature interactions, error or diagnostic information, authentication or session information, and cookies or similar technologies needed to keep you signed in and operate the service.
Information from third-party sign-in or service providers
Service providers that help operate ChoreTask may process information on our behalf or for services you interact with through ChoreTask. Current examples include Supabase for authentication, database, file storage, and server-side functions; Stripe for payment processing, payout-related onboarding, and payouts; Resend for transactional and support email delivery; Vercel for application hosting and web analytics; and Google for optional Google sign-in. Providers may change over time.
3. How we use information

- Facilitate posting tasks, sending offers, messaging, bookings, and task completion workflows.
- Share a task address with the selected helper after a booking becomes active.
- Process payments, service fees, refunds, and helper payouts through Stripe, and manage related transaction status.
- Send operational communications about accounts, tasks, offers, messages, bookings, payments, payouts, completion activity, reports, and support.

4. Email communications
ChoreTask sends operational or transactional emails needed to provide the platform. These may relate to accounts, authentication, tasks, offers, messages, bookings, payments, payouts, completion activity, reports, support requests, and other important account activity. Transactional emails are delivered using providers such as Resend. You generally cannot opt out of essential operational emails while continuing to use the corresponding features.
ChoreTask may also send announcements or promotional communications if such communications are introduced. When optional marketing or promotional emails are sent, they may include an unsubscribe method. You can also contact us at contact@choretask.com about optional marketing communications.
5. Cookies, analytics, and technical information
ChoreTask uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to maintain authentication and sessions, protect accounts, and operate core platform features.
ChoreTask uses Vercel Web Analytics and may collect usage events such as page visits, feature interactions, task-view events, and diagnostic or error information. Providers that host or process the service may also process browser, device, IP, referral, and related technical information as part of operating and securing ChoreTask.
You can control some cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other core features from working correctly.
6. How information is stored and protected
ChoreTask stores and processes platform information using service providers. Account, database, file storage, and server-side function data are hosted with Supabase. Payment processing, payout-related onboarding information, and payouts are handled by Stripe. ChoreTask does not store helpers’ full bank-account details.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate ChoreTask and for related legitimate purposes. Depending on the information and context, that may include retaining information while an account is active; as needed to provide the platform; to maintain booking and payment records; to process refunds and payouts; to address reports and disputes; for fraud prevention and safety; to maintain support correspondence; to comply with legal, tax, accounting, or regulatory obligations; to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims; and in backups for a limited operational period.
If you delete information, close features, or request account-related deletion, some information may remain where retention is reasonably necessary for the purposes above. We do not promise that every record will be immediately erased upon request.
9. Your choices and privacy requests
Depending on the features available in your account, you may be able to edit profile information through your profile settings and hide browse tasks or show them again. You may contact ChoreTask about account information or privacy questions, and you may request correction or deletion of information where appropriate.
Requests can be sent to contact@choretask.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We may decline or limit a request where we are required or permitted to retain information for legal obligations, fraud prevention, payment records, moderation or dispute records, or other legitimate retention needs described in this Privacy Policy. Fulfillment is not automatic and may take time.
If ChoreTask sends optional marketing or promotional emails, you may unsubscribe using the method provided in those emails or by contacting us. Essential operational and transactional emails may continue as needed to provide the service.
10. Children’s privacy
ChoreTask is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@choretask.com so we can take appropriate steps.
11. Third-party services and links
ChoreTask uses third-party services to operate the platform, including payment, authentication, hosting, analytics, and email providers. Those services have their own privacy practices. ChoreTask may also contain links to third-party websites or tools. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of unrelated third-party sites or services that we do not control.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of ChoreTask after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy, except where applicable law requires a different approach. We may not send an individual email for every revision.
